Floximed (Eye/Ear Drops)
(Ciprofloxcin)
COMPOSITION
Each ml contains ciprofloxacin 3.0 mg.
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
- Local therapy of various infectious eye diseases and its appendages caused by sensitive bacteria: acute and subacute conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, blepharitis, bacterial cornea ulcers with/without hypopyon, bacterial keratitis and keratoconjunctivitis, chronic dacryocystitis, and meibomitis.
- Pre-operational prophylaxis in ophtalmosurgery.
- Treatment of post-operative infectious complications.
- Treatment and prophylaxis of post-traumic infectious complications (with or without foreign bodies).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin and other drugs of fluoroquinolones group, deficit of glucose-6-phospahte phosphate dehydrogenase, infancy and adolescence, pregnancy and lactation.
ADVERSE EFFECTS
Local reactions: possible – allergic reactions, itching, burning, slight painfullness and hyperemia of conjunctiva, nausea; rarely – eyelid edema, photophobia, lacrimation, sensation of a foreign body in eyes, foul taste immediately after putting the ointment in an eye, impairment of vision acuity, crystal precipitation, keratitis, keratopathy, appearance of spots and cornea infiltration.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
1-2 drops is instilled into conjunctival sac. The frequency of instillations depends on severity of inflammation. Acute bacterial conjunctivitis, squamous and ulcerative blepharitis: 4-8 times daily depending on disease severity. Therapy course is 5-14 days. Keratitis: 1 drop not less than 6 times a day. If a positive effect occurs maximum treatment course depending on severity of cornea injury is 2-4 weeks. Cornea injury by Pseudomonas aeruginosa: 1 drop not less than 8-12 times a day. Treatment depends on clinical course and usually is about 2-3 weeks. Anterior uveitis: 1 drop 8-12 times daily. Acute dacryocystitis and canaliculitis: 6-12 times a day. Chronic acute dacryocystitis and canaliculitis: 4-8 times a day. Wounds of eyes and their appendages, prophylaxis of postoperative inflammatory disease: 4-6 times a day within postoperative period, usually 5 days-1 month. At night in addition to eye drops use eye ointment for a long drug effect.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Co-administration with beta-lactams, aminoglycosides, vancomycin, clindamycin, and metronidazole increases ciprofloxacin activity.
PRECAUTIONS
Only for topical application. Inform a patient about that if conjunctive hyperemia persists or increases after application he should discontinue the drug application and turn to a doctor. It is not recommended to wear soft lenses during therapy. Patients wearing contact lenses should apply only putting them away. Lenses may be put again in 15-20 minutes following instillation.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The application of Floximed during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated.

5 ml in a plastic vial with a dropper and screw cup in a carton box with an insert.
