Tobrimed (Eye Ointment)
(Tobramycin)
COMPOSITION
Each g contains tobramycin 3.0 mg.
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
- Blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis, endophthalmitis, dacryocystitis, meibomitis;
- Prophylaxis of postoperative infectious complications following ophthalmosurgery.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Hypersensitivity to Tobramycin and other aminoglycosides;
- Pregnancy and lactation (breast feeding);
- Infancy.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Burning, tingling and itching have been reported in 15% cases.
Hyperemia of eye mucous membrane, sensation of foreign body, lacrimation have been reported in 1-5% cases.
Keratitis, blepharitis, edema of eyelids, pain in eyes, chemosis, crystal precipitation, cornea ulceration have been reported in less than 1% cases.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Put into a conjunctive sac (a cavity between back surface of eyelids and a front surface of eyebulb) a 2.5 cm stripe of an ointment 2-3 times a day; in case of acute infection every 3-4 h until clinical effect occurs, then reduce a dose.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Co-administration with other systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics may enhance systemic adverse effects (nephrotoxic, ototoxic action, disbalance of mineral metabolism and hemopoiesis).
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Application during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated.
